Foursquare is a free app that helps you and your friends make the most of where you are and where you're going. When you're out and about, use Foursquare to share & save the places you visit, and when you're looking for inspiration for what to do next, we'll give you personalized recommendations and deals based on where you, your friends, & people with your tastes have been. We're a team of 160 people in NYC and SF, with a 90-person technical team. Check out our openings at foursquare.com/jobs
An internship (or co-op) at Foursquare requires at least 12 consecutive weeks of full-time work at either our New York (SoHo) or San Francisco (SoMa) headquarters. You will get training and mentorship from our all-star engineering team and have plenty of opportunities to push real features to our millions of users. The ideal intern will have a genuine passion for new technologies, Foursquare, and the location-based services space.
To thrive as a member of team foursquare, you must embrace our exciting work-hard, play-hard environment. We're a close-knit team and, especially at the end of a long day, we feel like we're inventing the future together. Apply here: jobsco.re/1bDeCZu
As a member of Foursquare’s engineering team, we want you to bring experience building real products in the real world from the ground up. Your teammates should see you as a programming expert and go to you with their toughest problems. You should be comfortable jumping in the deep end and learning new skills on a bleeding edge platform (Scala, Lift, and MongoDB).
Join us and help bring our feature ideas (and your own!) off the whiteboard and into reality. Here are some high level areas you could help with: -- Scale our architecture and improve performance to handle 1M new users each month -- Launch features that make cities easier to explore -- Build intelligent distributed systems to harness hundreds of terabytes of data [and growing] using hadoop, hive, scalding, sstables, and more -- Experiment with game mechanics to see what encourages users to do things in the offline world (have you unlocked the Warhol badge?)
Our engineers play a key role in product development, from concept to launch, so be ready to bring your creative ideas to the table. And because we push new versions of the website and API multiple times a week, it won't take long to get your work out in front of our millions of users.
You can join our engineering team at our San Francisco (SoMa) or New York City (SoHo) headquarters. We offer competitive compensation packages including generous equity options and full benefits for everyone. Apply here: jobsco.re/1bDcOzN
We're seeking an independent, smart, self-motivated, efficient, and hard-working intern who genuinely enjoys helping others. As a part of the Support Team, you’ll take on the responsibility of serving our business community of over 1.5 million verified merchants and broader user community of over 45 million. You’ll be on the front lines with our customers and have the opportunity to represent Foursquare to folks who want more information, are having trouble, or are simply interested in our business. You’ll help set-up (free) business accounts; field, investigate and solve queries; help moderate community content; and field questions via email and Twitter.
Day to day tasks will include responding to support requests within our support environment, escalating potential product issues within internal teams, assisting in improving the quality of venues and check-in specials in the Foursquare ecosystem, as well as assisting with new business onboarding. You'll also help our users navigate through the various apps and website, troubleshooting potential bugs that have been reported by users.
You should be an avid user of Foursquare, an excellent written communicator, and a natural problem solver.
We offer 4-month full-time, paid internships in our SoHo, NYC office. While there are no full time opportunities available after this internship, interns from our Support team have gone on to full-time opportunities at dynamic companies including Etsy, Kickstarter, Buzzfeed, Bonobos, and more!
