I am a Computer Science major at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign seeking a stimulating and creative software development/engineering position for the summer of 2014. Through my work, I hope to further apply my skills and gain experience in solving real-world problems.
Software Developer Intern - Back end Summer 2013 • Worked on a cloud-based Portfolio Management System (PMS) for hedge funds. • Implemented a parser using Java and the MongoDB jar that parses a user created JSON rule into a MongoDB query. • Worked extensively with the Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) process using Pentaho Kettle. Position data provided by the client was extracted from .xls files, transformed to make the data uniform and loaded into the database. • Wrote back-end services for the product's user management console that could add /disable/edit users and add/disable/edit clients. • Created a prototype front-end for the user management console using HTML and Bootstrap CSS. Used jQuery to create fluid effects on certain components. • Integrated the back-end services with the front-end using Spring MVC.
• Developed a flag semaphore identifier using a Kinect for Windows. • The angle between the hands and head is calculated using the Kinect SDK to identify the alphabet being gestured.
• Manages a University residence hall floor of 41 ethnically diverse undergraduate students. • Collaborates with a staff of 11 peers to enforce policies and ensure residents' safety. • Counsels students on various academic and personal issues, making myself available as a resource at all times. • Maintains all bulletin boards and fliers with useful, accurate and up to date information. • Serves as one of two Hall Council advisors managing a budget of $6,000.
Freshman Design Project - Object Tracking Spring 2012 • Used C++ and OpenCV to implement an object tracking system. The system used the method of template matching to tag and track objects. • Used the technique of thresholding to make image processing faster. • Applied homography to convert the camera view to a bird's eye view making distance calculation while tracking much easier and reducing camera-placement limitations. • Wrote and maintained the blog for the entirety of the project.
Implemented selection of hardware and software for inventory and stores, pharmacy and drug distribution, financial accounting and patient records for ICERTs rural welfare hospitals.
Used Android SDK and Java to build a game called "Maze" for the Android OS. Created three game stages with increasing difficulty levels. Created the game for Android 4.0 and made it backwards compatible up to 2.3 Learned object oriented thought process - clearer understanding of class implementation, abstraction and inheritance.
