About The Job We are looking for Software Developers (front-end and back-end), Quality Engineers, Network Engineers, and Operations Engineers to help build and support Yahoo!’s suite of exciting next-generation products.
Minimum Job Qualifications • Working towards a BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related major • Web-based server and client software development experience • Strong Object Oriented design skills and proficiency in either C++ or Java • Solid understanding of the software development process • Development experience in an Unix/Linux environment • Excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills • Good communication skills (both verbal and written)

Within the one of our specialized teams, you’ll help build, troubleshoot, and operate infrastructure spanning across Yahoo’s worldwide environment, supporting our homepage, Yahoo! Mail, Flickr, Fantasy Sports, and more.
There are several different positions open, but you should be familiar with several of:
Basic UNIX/Linux system administration
Installation, troubleshooting, creation of filesystems
Interacting with and understanding of DNS, SMTP, HTTP, SNMP, DHCP, and NTP
Message types and structure Manual testing and troubleshooting
RAID, inode structure, NFS fundamentals
LAN switching, Spanning Tree, IP routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, ISIS, etc)
Bourne-derived shell scripting Perl or Python, ideally in an object-oriented setting Basic C programming with emphasis in understanding POSIX system calls
Some of the responsibilities of our infrastructure team:
Design and build scalable, reliable, high-performance networks including all data centers, peering points, production backbone and corporate locations Manage systems infrastructure including Yahoo-wide UNIX distributions and components Network-based security access control systems that isolate and protect Yahoo properties Provide capacity and performance consultation to assist with optimal use of hardware and infrastructure Manage our global DNS name resolution and routing framework
The Infrastructure team is responsible for the core infrastructure and shared services required to support Yahoo! properties globally.
Design and build scalable high-performance networks including all corporate, datacenter, production backbone and Internet peering points globally. Manage systems infrastructure including Yahoo-wide unix distributions & components as well as the systems administration that supports properties world-wide. Provide long-term storage strategy and automation including shared & dedicated filesystem, block and object storage as well as data protection & data recovery systems. Network based security access control systems that isolate and protect various levels of application zones and access patterns. Manage global name resolution and routing including production DNS, Brooklyn Global Routing, and Edge acceleration and caching infrastructure. Datacenter and Network Strategy, planning and contract management supporting the Network and Datacenter teams. Build internal OSes (Linux, FreeBSD) for production and development. Provide capacity and performance consultation and management for Yahoo! Properties to assist with optimal utilization of production infrastructure.
