Frequently Asked Questions

What is Readyforce?

Readyforce is a career network designed to connect college students and recent graduates to amazing companies.

What does beta mean?

Beta is our way of saying there is a lot more to come.  We believe the site today delivers great value to both companies and students, but that we are only scratching the surface of all of the wonderful ways we can use technology to make finding a job easier.  It also means we love feedback and ideas.  Email our CEO with your suggestions at alex@readyforce.com

Is Readyforce open to everyone?

Yes. Readyforce is open to all people and all companies…we think our network can help everyone.  In the Fall of 2012, however, Readyforce is focused on connecting STEM majors like computer science and engineering to fast growing startup and tech companies.

Why should students and recent graduates join Readyforce?

Readyforce helps students building a professional career network. With 1 multi-dimensional profile, students can find, follow, and get direct connections to great companies without getting on an airplane. Readyforce also makes it easy for students to be found by companies outside of jobs board and career centers.

Why should companies join Readyforce?

Finding the right college student or recent graduate is time-consuming and expensive. Readyforce makes it easy for companies to find and connect with great college students across the county without the need for travel.

How is Readyforce different from other career networks and traditional job boards?

Readyforce is the only career network designed specifically for college students and recent graduates.

What does it cost?

Readyforce is free for students and currently free for companies during our beta.  In the future, Readyforce will charge a subscription fee to companies.

How are search results determined?

We can’t share how the algorithm works…that’s our “secret sauce”, but we can say that it is a combination of profile completeness, your site activity and your overall site influence.  We evaluate the algorithm frequently to make sure the right people are finding the right opportunities.

How do I show up higher in search results?

It’s important to note… you have some control over where you show up in the results:
  1. First things first - make sure your profile is complete and looks awesome.
  2. Start following some students and companies and ask some people to follow you.
  3. Interact on the site frequently…if you never log in or open Readyforce emails we start to think you aren’t that interested. We prioritize people that are actively engaged in the network.
  4. Be helpful in building the network by telling people about Readyforce on Facebook and Twitter.

What is an Connection Request (“Connection”)?

In one simple click, you can tell someone that you are interested in talking with them.  For students, it is a quick and easy way to expand your network and is less formal than submitting a formal job application.  Don’t worry if all your requests are not accepted.  Timing is everything…so we recommend requesting 20 connections to get started.

What happens when I “Follow” a profile?

Users are notified that they have a new follower.  Following is a great way to get on the radar and learn more about a student or company.  The more profiles you Follow the better.
